Why did you join UUC of CC?

In the Fall of 2005, I felt the need for an association with an organized faith community that met my social and spiritual needs. I was familiar with Unitarian Universalism, but there was no U.U. Congregation in Caldwell County. I placed an advertisement in the local newspaper asking anyone interested in forming a U.U. Fellowship to meet with me at our Public Library. Four of us showed up and we decided to continue meeting every Sunday. We developed a Mission Statement, were lay-led, and established an Order-of Service. I did everything required for us to be recognized by the Unitarian Universalist Association as an Emerging Congregation, and to be established as a (501- C-3) "Church" designation - non-profit, by the State and National Internal Revenue Service. We grew to about 25 members and met at the Library for 5 years. In 2010, our current property became available, and we were able to purchase and re-model it for our purpose. Over the years since, due to energy, dedication and personal resources, this Congregation has continued to pursue our Mission -- "To establish a place where compassionate people can satisfy there spiritual needs in an atmosphere that promotes tolerance for differences, freedom of expression, and a search for the truth."
